Fighting the good fight...

Fightfrumpbutton

Y'see, we have this Throwback of a Fleece Jacket from C-tel. I think every citizen of Monroe and the surrounding area had one at one point. It's been weirdly cold here lately, and I'm trying to find the right weight coat/jacket that I can put on or take off quickly, and not over my head. Don't wanna mess with the hair, now, do I? This zip-up fleece is just the right weight, and it's super-soft. It's also eleventy-thousand sizes too large. Well, maybe just 3 or 4, but who's counting? The waist comes down past my hips. In order to put my hands in the pockets, my elbows don't bend. We're talking big, people. After I get ready/presentable this morning, I'll have to post a picture of it.

Anyway, the other morning I wore this fleece to work. Mmm! Soft and fleecy warmth. On the way to work, I could hear Fussy's imaginary voice.... "Are you fighting the frump today?"
"NO! Frump, I embrace Thee!" I justified the jacket because I wouldn't be wearing it all day. It didn't matter what I looked like. WRONG! It was super-cold at work, so naturally I wrapped in my snuggly, oversized goodness, looking like a smurfy marshmallow man, er... woman.

Then, I realized how goofy I was. Here I am, a successful woman with means to take care of her appearance, and I don't have appropriate outerwear. How crazy is that? So, I did what every red-blooded American woman would do. SHOPPING!

I wanted a fitted, zip-up fleece, and Old Navy had (at one point) cornered the market on fleece, right? Well, not any more. Now it makes me think "Disposable Clothing for the 18-24 Set" of which I am no longer a part. Then, I even went to TJMaxx. Nothing. Finally, Kohl's. I hadn't set foot in that store since Black Friday with my SIL. It's just too tempting to buy out the whole dang store. I. Love. Kohl's. I found a super-cute, lavender zip-up hoodie sweater, but no fleece. I'll have to check Eddie Bauer today.

I haven't been in such a shopping mood lately, so I was surprised when I actually spent TIME searching for this fleece. That's usually when I enjoy shopping the most: when I have a mission. I'll keep you posted (because it's such breaking news!) on the search.

Back to your normal lives now. Thank you.

VOTE OR DIE!

Fussy Loves Me!
Check out this post from one of my favorite internet-people. (And I'm sure in real life, too, 'cept she's all the way in Tennessee!)

See, she picks a funny picture each week, then asks for comments on a suitable caption. Naturally, I had to come up with something funny because I'm all about the captions, and subtitles, a-la Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Then, the blogaverse (that's you folks) votes on the best caption of all....

We'll just have to see how this turns out. :-) GO VOTE.

What dreams may come...

So, dreams and where they come from have been on my mind lately. Seems like great subconsciousnesses think alike, eh Gwenn?

1. My co-worker's husband works for the Apex PD. She said he and one of his co-workers had a wreck last night while chasing a speeder. No injuries at all. Creepy thing, though... he said he'd had a dream the night before; he and the same guy were his were in a wreck in the Same. Exact. Location.

Creeeeeeepy!

2. Last night, I had a dream that 2 of my friends and I were at a BBQ in my aunt's backyard. I looked over my shoulder and saw two people dressed in Hazmat-like suits with bombs strapped to their chests. They had ping-pong ball sized shrapnel attatched to their suits. I realized what they were there to do, and I started running away when I saw one guy motion for his remote detonater (pah! as if I could outrun an explosion). I crouched on the ground at one point, but when the explosion didn't come, I looked up toward the bombers. That's when I saw the explosion and expected to be dead.

Here's the wierd thing...

It didn't scare me. The thought of "I might be dead" didn't even freak me out a little. I did have a realization, though, and I look forward to your comments/thoughts. When we die and are immediately in the Lord's presence, is it like a slow fade to white? Or is it more like a scene change in a movie where the change is split-second? I know none of us will ever be able to answer this on "this side" but what do you think? (In my dream, I had a slow fade to white, and was startled when I didn't see Jesus' face.)

Anyway... dreams. Interesting things.

Moon Beaming

I see the moon...

... and the moon sees me.

The moon sees somebody I want to see.
So, God bless the moon,
God bless me,
and God bless the somebody I want to see.

thoughts...

So, I've become more and more lost in the Blogsphere lately. I really enjoy reading a big batch of these blogs, and I've come to know these ladies' senses of humor, writing style, etc. I've learned about blogging etiquette, and I know it's bad manners to lurk. (No, I don't have a site meter here, but I could get one, and know that YOU are lurking, then nag you about it. But I won't. Yet.) So, I am beginning to leave comments for other bloggers.

It's a very big step for me. I'm working hard to get over my complex of "I really have nothing to say. Nothing to contribute." Many of the very successful (read: popular) blogs I read are MommyBloggers, homeschoolers, or they make very cool crafts/jewelry/stationery from home. Things I am not. So I think to myself I really don't have much to add about those topics. Many of the "we're trying to have a kid" blogs are very much about infertility treatments, reproductive endocrinologist, pregnancy loss, and all sorts of "sticky baby dust." I'm really not wanting to spend much more time importing that info into my brain. Yet. I just don't want to think about it now.

So.... what does a girl like me have to say? I'm not sure, but I when I figure it out, I'll say it.

I'm spending lots of time with The League of Extraordinary Wives... that's what I want to focus on right now - strengthening my wonderful marriage and finding a community of women who are like-minded. (It's invite-only, but if you want to join AND YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO just email me, and I'll send you an invite. It rocks!)

I'll keep you posted on how things are going. Keep checking back in, and when you come and visit me, just pop your head in and say Hi.... I hear getting comments gives you a crack-high, and I'm looking forward to it.

Love yall!
